A cloud. A floe. An island. A raft. A chaos in the order. A carpet. A big hug. A warm blanket. A shelter. A dreamland. A place to rest. A circle of coziness. A comfort zone. A soft space!
Distance has become an ambivalent term, keeping distance feels so wrong on the one hand, but so safe on the other. The body radius, the imaginary circle around a body, has increased because the distance to other people should be as large as possible. What are the consequences from all of this?
Inside the soft piece of furniture there are no limits to closeness, just feel secure and inspired for a new kind of energy in a pile of textiles. It’s the time to redefine a comfort zone. The body is immersed in the whole object and begins to interact in a playful way. Various elements can be used as pillows, blankets and body extensions.
The project "Soft Space" is part of the Circle exhibition by Dutch Invertuals
The Cologne Museum of Applied Arts (MAKK) and Dutch Invertuals present The Circle exhibition, featuring new work by emerging and pioneering designers from both The Netherlands and Germany. Together, these talents went on a journey to explore the mother of all forms: the circle.
