The stinging nettle is an undemanding regional resource which is known for its multiple use in different fields. A really interesting aspect is the production of a textile fiber, made out of the stem of the nettle. This very old procedure, which was already used in the middle ages for textile fabrication, is the basis for a material study of different components of the plant. I extracted the fibers out of the stem, but also used the dust of the peel or shavings of the inner wooden pipe for my research, to use the plant holistic.
